Future

We have made informal arrangements with three other charities working in Burma.

Medical Action Myanmar

www.medicalactionmyanmaruk.org.uk
A well-established charity which provides free medical care and social help to the poor in Yangon, other cities and very remote parts of the country.

Helping the Burmese Delta

Charity Registered in the UK: No 1124774
www.HelpingTheBurmeseDelta.org

works in Education and Health Care in remote areas of the Irrawaddy delta. They have built 17 schools, and are training villagers as Community Health Workers. We hope in the future to be able to send volunteers to treat patients in the Delta.

  • We have provided all three charities with our oral health powerpoint written in Burmese and English to show to as many of their patients as they can.
  • One of our former trustees, Zar Ni Ye Myint travelled with other dentists to the north of the country in January 2014 and treated people in very remote areas. They were part of a group which included Belgian eye surgeons who were also working within the Sitagu organisation (the venerable Sitagu, the most famous religious leader in Burma who has founded and administers over 25 free hospitals around Burma).
  • We are going to use the mobile units to provide dentistry and in particular preventative information to 5 free (non Government) nursery schools around Lake Inle.
  • We are working with a group of teachers from Australia who are going to provide Burmadent with teaching materials suitable to age groups which will engage children in understanding dental health and decay prevention.
